In the Episcopal Church, sacraments are not just religious rituals—they are sacred signs of God’s grace entrusted to the Church. For children, understanding the meaning and mystery of the sacraments is an essential part of nurturing a lifelong faith. We include Sacramental Instruction at all levels of children’s formation.
Children’s Eucharists:
We offer periodical clergy-led Children’s Eucharist services throughout the year designed for children in Elementary School. All children in grades 1-6 participate as lay readers, acolytes, ushers and oblationers.
Communion Class:
Our special Lenten Communion Class is open to all children in Grades 1-3. Parents choose which year they wish their child to participate. This six-week class explores all the parts of the liturgy through the lens of the life of Jesus. In this class we explore why we Gather, Listen, Respond, Celebrate and Go Forth each week . It includes a special behind-the-scenes clergy-led tour of the Sacristy and Sanctuary. Participating children will conclude the course by being honored in a special Communion Class Presentation service and reception.
Confirmation Class:
Confirmation is a time of intentional preparation—a journey of learning, questioning, and deepening one’s relationship with God and the Church. In the Episcopal tradition, Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which individuals make a mature, public affirmation of their baptismal vows and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. Our youth class is offered every other year for those in grades 8 & 9. Our class meets together each Sunday and each Confirmand additionally has a dedicated Spiritual Mentor that walks with them on their preparation journey during this important year.
