The Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday is full of events at Christ Church.

The Founding Fathers Series continues with a discussion of the English Reformation.
The annual Blessing of the Animals service (a week later because of Oktoberfest last week) will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Choral Evensong returns for the season this Sunday as well, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Our complete schedule:

8:00 a.m. – Holy Eucharist Rite I
9:00 a.m. – Coffee & Fellowship
9:00 a.m. – Choir Rehearsal
9:10 a.m. – Adult Forum – Founding Fathers Series: English Reformation
9:30 a.m. – Youth Choir Rehearsal
10:00 a.m. – Holy Eucharist Rite II
10:00 a.m. – Sunday School (Grades 1-5 will have their own Eucharist in the Children’s Chapel and will not join their families in church)
11:15 a.m. – Coffee & Fellowship
11:45 a.m. – The Third Service
2:00 p.m. – Blessing of the Animals
6:30 p.m. – Choral Evensong

Also, our new doors arrived this week. This is the first leg of the “Red Door and More” Campaign. Earlier this year, the contractors who made the new doors took the stained glass panels from the old doors and reconditioned them for installation in the new doors. The brass hardware from the old doors have been reconditioned as well and have been shown off on their “old homes” until the new doors arrived. Within a couple of weeks, the new doors will be installed. Here’s a sneak peak at the shiny new doors. (Click for larger views.)
